Before my full-time professional experience in film, I built a foundation in computer graphics and software development through a combination of projects and internships.

EARLY EXPERIENCE

Research & Development Intern

Blue Sky Studios

Jun 2018 - Aug 2018

  • Designed a machine learning framework to predict rendering times of upcoming feature films.

  • Defined the training data by the scenes' complexity.

  • Constructed the ML model using Nuke and Python.

  • Won the 'Most Creative' award at Blue Sky Studios' internal hackathon alongside three R&D team members.

Undergraduate Thesis

Autodesk

Sept 2017 - Apr 2018

  • Completed University of Toronto's undergraduate thesis under the supervision of Autodesk' Computational Science Research department.

  • Designed a topology optimization problem to simulate bone growth in MATLAB and Python, and generated results consistent with popular biological and structural theories. 

3D Programming Intern

Ubisoft Toronto

May 2017 - Aug 2017

  • Implemented C++ features to improve the visuals and creative control in the 3D game universe of Starlink: Battle for Atlas.

  • Improved existing 3D functions in the engine.

  • Collaborated with technical directors to ensure that the visuals align with the creative director’s vision.

Robotics Institute Summer Scholar

Carnegie Mellon University

Jun 2016 - Aug 2016

  • Worked with Dr. Stelian Coros in the Computer Graphics Lab.

  • Integrated the Leap Motion Controller into an animated simulator for robotics

  • Designed and manufactured a plush robotic hexapod that locomotes by a standard tripod gait.

Undergraduate Research Assistant

  • Designed a collection of 15+ educational videos for the University of Toronto’s engineering students to provide students with supplementary knowledge on complex topics and teamwork competencies.

  • Led student focus groups and conducted surveys, which ultimately improved students’ engagement and retention of the material by 50%.

EARLY INVOLVEMENT

During my undergraduate studies, I was involved in mentorship, career-readiness, and community-building initiatives for students in engineering.

  • Co-led a team of ten students to organize and deliver seven career-readiness and entrepreneurship events, including a week-long startup case study, field visits to local startup offices, and Canada’s largest startup career fair.

  • Co-led a Buskerfest Orientation Week initiative for incoming engineering students, supporting fundraising and awareness efforts for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

  • Served as a student volunteer at SIGGRAPH, supporting conference operations and engagement activities.

Awarded based on the practical technology's contributions to toys and amusement culture.

SIGGRAPH STUDENT HOUSING AWARD | 2017

Awarded to select SIGGRAPH student volunteers in the form of complementary housing for the duration of the conference.

FIRST IN CLASS: COMPUTER GRAPHICS | 2017

Achieved the highest grade in UofT's CSC418 Introduction to Computer Graphics class with 100%.

Awarded to students who have sought out and secured a research opportunity at a top institution abroad | $3000
